Speech Therapy Strategies for Improving Language Development

Children learn language by listening to how the people around them speak. In this way, parents play a vital role in helping their children develop language and communication skills.

The more parents interact with their children, the more likely they are to develop strong language skills. The opposite is also true — children who receive limited language stimulation may develop language at a slower rate than their peers. The quality of your interactions also matters, so the more care parents put in, the better the results.

To help, we’ve put together eleven strategies that promote childhood language development. Many of these activities can be performed anywhere, including from the comfort of home.
