Meet Sophie Shieh
Sophie is an experienced, passionate, and nurturing educator, with almost two decades of experience in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) under her belt. She first embarked on her journey as an educator in 2002 at the preschool department at MINDS. After completing her Graduate Diploma in ECCE, she went on to take up the principal role in a childcare centre.
In 2007, she set up her first childcare centre in the Serangoon area and continued to manage centres till 2016. Throughout her years managing childcare centres, Sophie had always worked closely with parents and children alike to provide individualised care and support. She believes every child should be given the opportunity to realise their fullest potential and it is the teachers’ role to cater to each child’s individual learning needs. This is strongly reflected in her curriculum. Sophie strives to provide quality care and play based sensory learning to bring out the best in every child she meets.
In 2018, she first dabbled in curriculum development with Marshall Cavendish, writing preschool math programmes and assessment books to be published in the USA. That same year, she also joined Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) to provide academic learning support to children going through cancer treatment. During her time at CCF, she underwent TBRI & Trauma Informed Classrooms training at Texas Christian University (TCU). She is a qualified trainer with an Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) from the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ).
